Review on Ultimate Softness Unleashed: PanPastel 30101 Ultra Soft Artist Pastel 10 Color Painting Set with Sofft Tools by Jennifer Roberts

A unique art material that doesn't look quite like traditional pastel.

Now I've done some work with Panpastel. I will be using this more for the bottom layer, background and base layers. I found it great for loose pastels and casts. If you want finer details, it's very easy to apply a pastel pencil (I use Carbothello) or colored pencil (Polychromos or Luminance, but it depends a bit on the paper used). I really enjoy working with this material on Art Spectrum Colourfix paper. Others are having great success with other papers such as Canson Mi-Tientes (not my favorite yet). It's good to experiment with different papers for your own style. I tend to fill up my teeth fairly quickly, so sandpaper works best for me. But it is very easy to use and quite simple. I also found that with sandpaper I can use the Derwent Electric Eraser to create some cool effects. It was a happy ending to trying to fix what I didn't like! I bought several small sets, not the whole set of 80 colors. You can successfully rate the store if you don't use all 80. I know I wouldn't use metallics so I bought sets with very little overlap and added a few colors that I was missing as separate pans. For the price of a pot, it lasts a long time! I played with it a lot and hardly made a dent in the surface. A warning! Be careful what you use on the surface. Try experimenting with different sponges. This made the surface of the dishes rough. Not a crisis but I didn't like how it affected the soft sponges so I smoothed them back out. There are tips on the internet for "repairing” pans.
