After reading the reviews here and elsewhere I almost overlooked this scanner. I'm glad I bought it. (Read other reviewers for more feature details. I'm only suggesting one positive here to balance the others. I scanned about 200 photos. There are no negatives. There were a few photos with a white line, but I just got one continued. It happened in just a few photos And I agree as I'm more interested in just keeping them than sitting in boxes. The scanner worked great with very small photos. I don't have them in the ones that come with them envelope we sent them all to walgreen's for 4x4s (glossy) and they came out AMAZING well some of the photos are much better than the originals especially the little ones the process is so easy considering how long it takes takes a lot of time to use a flatbed scanner. This scanner is so fast and it's great that it doesn't have to be plugged into a computer all the time. After scanning I just plug it into the USB port connected to my laptop (Windows 7) and transferred the photos. So easy! I have since uploaded them to our online photo album. Tramps - save twice! The supplied USB stick is only for the scanner. I'm not saying you can't use it elsewhere, but that's unwise because the software that controls the scanner is on that card. So I don't want to risk losing it and would advise you to make a backup copy of this folder on the card. The size of the card is not a problem for us - the photos were each scanned with a resolution of 100 to 200K. In any case, the card is not intended for safekeeping. If someone were to invent a scanner that scans the back and converts text into signatures, I would be in seventh heaven! Capturing this part of the memory is a real challenge. The scanner scans the back with no problem, but trying to digitally match the back to the front is a challenge! If you are a professional photographer/graphic artist, you will not like this scanner. But it's fine for the average family who wants to preserve memories before something happens or just SHARE them with the rest of the family. At this price I could buy one more before they go away. Just in case. because I have not found anything else on the market that is as easy, fast and cheap.
