I installed an entire house generator with a switch that became my main entry, overcurrent protection and shutdown. The problem is that if I wanted to turn the house off, I had to go outside and open the generator breaker. Otherwise it would start and transfer the load of the house to it when I open the main switch in the transfer switch. So I installed a 200A Siemens circuit breaker in my electrical panel so I could turn off the house without blocking the generator.
