The fabric is just right. The red is a little softer, but both are like a good cotton fabric. The seams on the corners are well finished and hold up well. I believe there are tiny buttonholes on the sides for the pillow strap but we don't use these as we often remove the pillow for cleaning and the baby is never on the pad without someone taking it. In general, I liked the set, I will buy more. In fact, I think I'll buy another lingerie set.
