Let me start by saying that I installed this myself and am a technician by trade so it may have been easier for me than for some people. However, I didn't find it very complicated and the instructions that came with it seem very clear and simple. I think anyone with basic tools and a taste for mechanics can do it themselves, otherwise you can hire a professional installer. The kit included everything but the self-tapping screws and tubing (1/4" copper for the water supply, 1/2" clear vinyl for the drain) and a few extra 14-20 AWG wire nuts. I also bought an extra tee with a 1/4 turn shut off valve to connect the water supply to my 1/2 inch copper hot water line. I do not recommend using the poppet valve that comes with the wiring kit as it often fails and is out of spec. I installed the unit to the return manifold and used a pair of 90° 6" elbows and a few feet of flexible HVAC hose for the bypass duct and sealed the whole thing with silver foil HVAC tape. As for the functionality of the unit. , works so far It's great. I especially like the water saving feature. It comes with a composite filter (paper/metal mesh) and a bowl with float sensors to close the water valve if it overflows. Much more economical water use in my opinion, and there is one too Overflow drain hose in case of a malfunction. I like that the outdoor temperature sensor uses an automatic function to adjust the humidity and also has the function of turning on the stove fan to circulate and humidify the air when the humidity is too low, separately from the thermostat which is lovely both functions work great so far and my relative air humidity increased by 10% after the first day. This is the most accurate and comprehensive humidifier I have seen at this price point and it was very good value for money.
