I don't often cover my horses. But I had to clean my dirty mud machine for the funeral a few days in January. This blanket gave full coverage and kept him clean and his fur smooth. Durability has not been specifically tested. But all stitching feels secure and should hold with normal wear. The only thing that didn't really bother me was that the neck cap was one piece with the body. I would have preferred the neck cap to be removable. This detail was not clear in the description or in the photos. Overall it's a good duvet.
