These things are amazing. They are perfect if you cannot water your plants daily as the soil/plants will absorb the water from the balls. The pearls will shrink and expand as they are watered again. I use them in my garden, in pots and in my mother's flower bed (she doesn't always forget to water her flowers). They do particularly well with clay potted plants, as the clay appears to absorb some of the water. My cats find them interesting and I often see them playing with them. No doubt my daughter (when she was younger) showed just as much interest in them as my cats, although they are non-toxic so I'm not concerned with what they eat or play with.
