Review on πŸ”§ Geeetech Precision Accessories for Enhanced Bed Leveling by Andy Baker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is the one for 3D printers

3D Touch is just what you need when you want to stop messing around with bed alignment. I never realized how much I needed it, but once installed I could imagine printing without it. Depending on your settings, it may take some time for everything to be properly configured in your firmware. However, many videos hosted on the internet make it quite easy. If I buy a second printer I know it will be my first mod purchase! You'll see other reviews here saying things like Wires are backwards and inconsistent. These issues can be tracked by the user and not by 3D Touch. If you search the web, you will find that some 3D motherboard manufacturers do not use a standard pinout. You must pay attention to this during installation. One board with the wrong pinout comes to mind - SKR 1.4 Pro. The pinout is not standard and you will need to customize the cable pins. As for the inconsistency, it could be due to how you use the 3D probe with your car. Firmware Marlin has several different types of bed orientation. The normal AUTO_BED_LEVELING_BILINEAR will check the bed before each print if you want that too, on the other hand AUTO_BED_LEVELING_UBL is a more accurate representation of your bed but if you are using a leveling system like UBL or one of the more advanced features you will have to time out the bed leveling to restart to correct deviations in bed. But that's not the problem with 3D Touch, it does exactly what it's supposed to do. Help level the bed, depending on the brand/motherboard in your printer you may need to compile the firmware to make it work. The internet is full of tutorials on how to do it very easily. If you don't want to compile your own firmware, check with your printer manufacturer if they have prebuilt firmware that you can flash to enable the 3D probe. Another great product, does what it's supposed to do!
