I bought this tool to remove 5/8" threaded studs from a large cast iron pump housing. The other two tools I had, the cam tool and wedge tool, were too bulky to fit in the Pump housing to fit.thin, about the size of a large nut so there was room for it.Handled at the base. The problem was that it couldn't handle the high torque required to get a really stuck Bolts to loosen. The bolts I tried to remove were corroded on the pump housing. Applying excessive torque caused internal damage and scarring. In the end the tool just slipped and wouldn't bite. A torch, heavy hammer and vise sticked out out of it, "heat it up and knock it out” was the order of the day from then on. The rivets were removed but completely destroyed. Then replacements were ordered. This tool g would be good for installing bolts and removing bolts that weren't too tight or corroded. The tool is completed with circlips that will do their job as and as easily as possible. It was not possible to determine whether spare parts were available. Now that I know the shortcomings of the tool, spare parts should be at hand. A much stronger and harder steel version of this tool would probably suit me.
