Review on Enhanced InteracTV DVD System Compilation: Unbeatable Value in One Pack by Grant Nordstrom

The DVD in the InteracTV main box was defective. I couldn't get the DVD to play more than one picture on any of the 6 DVD players in the house. I continued programming without even using a test card. When I inserted another InteracTV DVD, I found that the remote worked fine. I noticed something very interesting on the packaging that led me to believe that Fisher-Price was aware of the quality issue before these products were released. The two books I bought separately had a small gap in their plastic packaging and the DVD had clearly been replaced by a factory representative. Also on the box was a sticker saying the DVD was made in the United States and covering a printed label saying the DVD was made in Hong Kong. The drives that were replaced worked fine, but the drive that came with the main remote unit was not replaced and had a "Made in Hong Kong" sticker on its packaging. I am disappointed that Fisher-Price sold me a drive that was known to be defective. The item is for a holiday sale only. When I tried to call service over Christmas, business hours did not allow for immediate help. I called back Monday morning but received a recorded message that the ringer volume was too high and was asked to call back later. It wasn't even possible to hold the phone, the machine just hung on me! With the working floppy disks, I found the program length too short for the money. Also, the "interactive" part of the program is poorly integrated. It looks like the regular program was cut up and rudely voiced by a bunch of kids. I'll try to use this thing a few more times with my son before I write the toy off. In general, the toy was disappointing because of the defective installation disk and also because of the poor quality of the interactive part of the programs.
