I bought a similar back scratcher from the Dollar Store a few years ago. I have several non-expandable back scratchers and have used them for many years (my grandmother had one decades ago). But the retractable one has become my favorite because it can be slipped into a pencil case or next to the TV without getting in the way like a regular one. In any case, these KVCGLI brands are much better than the dollar store. The Dollar Store version spans 2 inches and is 10 inches long. This KVCGLI measures 8" and stretches 4 times (well, it goes up to about 24" in 4 sections). There is plastic comb in dollar store, this KVCGLI comb should be metal. so sturdy. Painted with a thick layer of paint (one black, one pink). The handle is made of textured plastic. In short, a dollar store is a toy, it's almost a "medical device"
