It's legal! I bought this for the Kettle Pizza Grill project to keep the grill dome insulated to better retain heat. For my application I would have to constantly add wood to the grill to maintain the temperature (700-850°F). After cutting it down to the ceramic insulation, wrapping it in foil and stuffing it around the dome/lid opening, I was able to maintain a fairly constant temperature. In fact, 2 hours after hitting the initial 750F, my "Franken Grill" is still at 600F with no wood/charcoal added! That's very good for a basic Webber grill! Overall I am very impressed with this product and would recommend it for any high thermal insulation application.
