I've always used big bags that tip over too easily. I love that I can zip up but still knit while the yarn is going through the lid - especially handy if you get one of those balls of yarn that need to unwind on the outside because the other end is in the Hide middle and you just can't find it. If the yarn gets stuck in the pocket, the ball won't bounce everywhere and no special bowl is needed. The pockets make it easy to store the right utensils without having to fish out all the yarn when you need something. Seems solid but since it's just sitting on the floor next to my chair I can't judge.
