smelled like mold or chemicals

Nice colors but not very well stitched. The patched hats were hand-sewn with white thread in a very eye-catching way. Bad smell. I washed them alone in cold water (because of the smell) and they looked awful. Tons of fluff on them and they're shrinking too. (without drying). Returned on credit. They were intended for the pool of children's stockings. At first they were adult sized but reduced to child size.
