This device is a worthy replacement for the original device with a defective locking mechanism. Be careful when inserting the lock block into the slot (sliding door cutout) as it is slightly wider than the hole to ensure a tight fit. I would suggest doing a trial fit to see how tight your setup is before pushing it fully into the groove. When it's a good fit you can either trim the sides of the mortise with sandpaper or use vise grip pliers to hold the extended latch while you screw it into place. If not, you may have to remove the door and maneuver to recreate the locking mechanism, like I did. Lesson learned! All in all, it is a good replacement for your old or broken device.
