Although I've used SPD cleats for years (just for gym cycling), I've never worn cleats on my own shoes. We just got a Nordic track bike and I wanted to change the pedals so I can buckle up. I thought I was crazy because the spikes just weren't attached to my Shimano boots! I even took her to a bike shop for help. When they finally got them on (with great difficulty!), I brought them home and it was absolutely impossible to break these pedals. I thought maybe I was just rusty and forgot how to do it. For comparison, I bought and tried "BV Bike 9/16' pedals with toe clips (including SPD spikes) compatible with Shimano SPD - Peloton compatible back/exercise bike/exercise bike pedals". Much better! It is easy to attach the boots to the boots, they are easy to attach. If possible, take them with you.
