I'm sure the maker of this product acted with the best of intentions, but generally when thin and cheap metal is used for screws and fasteners, the product will fail. The metal used is prone to chipping, rusting and eventually failure. Fasteners and bolts should be made of high-quality metal so that nothing comes loose when the child rides. Of course, this product is significantly overpriced and not worth the money. I would say it cost them dollars to produce based on the quality of the metal. Much luck
