Every time I look at a scissor sharpener they only use ceramic blades to sharpen scissors. If you use leather scissors or kitchen scissors, the bars just won't cut them (pun intended). This sharpener uses tungsten carbide to make the cutting edge of the scissors and it works great. For knives, he has a rough repair tool made out of tungsten carbide and then a ceramic edge finish. Great tool for the money, NO electric sharpener, in my case it's just a powerful backend. It does the job.
