I have a used copy of this lens, it's about 10 years old judging by the packaging and it does works great - very sharp throughout the FF frame at f8, with no distortion. There are dust particles and smudges on the glass in the lens so I decided to shell out the money and buy a new one - it will probably be even sharper than the one I have. I was surprised that the 2 new lenses are actually softer in the corners than the used ones. I've tested them repeatedly with the D810 and got the same results. So my advice is to look for a nice used replica of this lens, not a new one - Nikon seems to have slowed down a bit with this particular model in recent years.
