Review on JVC KD-BT1 Stereo by Erick Roby

Great receiver

So far I am very happy with this stereo. I looked for other bluetooth enabled receivers and this one had without a doubt the best features for the price. The menu system takes a little getting used to, but if you spend a little time you can customize it to your liking. , you don't have to mess around too much with lots of different settings - and there are LOTS of them to customize its behavior. While not a true multicolor display, it can set different colors for each input if you wish, or you can always have it on the same color setting. There are two fonts to choose from, one regular and one bold. A cool feature is the ability to automatically switch from positive to negative display depending on the time of day. However, JVC could make a little better use of the display area - after selecting the USB input, for example, I don't need the left 1/4 of the display to always tell me I'm connected to a USB source. Also, the caller ID display could have been bigger on the screen, but it's functional. USB input is via a reasonable length cable coming out of the back of the unit - I had more than enough cables to connect the USB adapter to the glove box. below and behind. And the USB functionality is actually BETTER than advertised! The JVC specs on their website say it will work with a unit up to 10GB, but I put a 20GB laptop drive in the case, uploaded over 15GB of files and it works GREAT - the stereo powered the drive with power and I do not have it there were no problems. with this. And the drive remembers where it's been, even in the middle of a track, when power is cycled. CD playback works great and MP3 CDs play pretty much the same as the USB input. Another nice touch is that the device reads the CD-TEXT information from the newer regular audio CD I tried and displays the song titles instead of just "Track 01". Another minor point, removing and reinstalling the bezel is a little tricky. Overall, the performance and incredible features far outweigh the few criticisms I have of this receiver - I would definitely recommend it.
