Review on Optimized Universal 24214 B234SR120M A000I Fluorescent Ballast by Bobby Posner

Just installed this new ballast. I replaced a 20 year old ballast that died last week. The exchange process was very easy. I simply split and twisted all the wires in the correct colors: 2 red to 2 red, 2 blue to 2 blue, 2 yellow to 2 yellow, black to black, and white to white. I replaced the ballast on a Universal MagneTek 439-L-TC-P. The photo shows the old and the new ballast. The old one weighed 3 kg. 1 oz and new only 14 oz. Hopefully that just means the technology has gotten better, but I guess it means things aren't being made the way they used to be. The new one was smaller (9.5" long, 1.75" wide, 1.25" deep - compared to the old - 9.5" long, 2.25" wide and 1.5" deep), but still fit perfectly in the old space in the mount. When I flipped the switch, instantly! I recommend this replacement. I hope it lasts another 20 years, but I'll be happy if it lasts 10.
