We bought this heater for our living room and decided that if we were to buy a heater we might as well get a fake fireplace. . It was great initially and seemed like a great buy for the first month or so. until I got home and turned it on and then left the room for a second and went back to the burning smell. It turned out that the fan motor was not working, but the heating element was still working. When I realized that, I turned off the heating. Upon further inspection, it turned out that there is a fuse/breaker that prevents the heater from overheating too much. Under close supervision, I turned the heater back on and confirmed that it did indeed shut off power to the heater once it started heating. ***UPDATE*** VIVOHOME contacted me as soon as I posted this review with my issue and offered to replace the heatsink immediately. When I asked for a refund instead, they were happy to oblige. I was very impressed with their customer service. However, due to my problem, I cannot recommend this heater.
