Review on Tronex Taper Head Cutters - Razor Flush Edges, Relieved (Standard Handle) • 5223 by Hannah Curi

Great Product - Set Screw Assembly Instructions

I am very impressed with the build quality of these pliers as well as the results. I bought Tronex 5223 pliers to make square, flush cuts on the ends of thin wire, which they do surprisingly well. Pay attention to the image below which shows cuts up to 20 and 26 gauge. Copper wire versus a traditional bevel cut. With my hands on the larger side, I wasn't sure what size pen I needed. I chose the 5" model because I suspected that smaller grips would allow for more precise control and it was the right decision for me. Regarding the set screw: the pliers did not come with this screw so I have my own Method developed which follows below. My goal was to adjust the stop screw so that with heavy hand pressure the tips *only come close to making contact*. This will cut the thinnest wire without damaging the tips of the pliers. I used strong aluminum foil for this placed between the cutting tips and the screw adjusted so that the tips just started biting into the metal (0.016mm).
