Review on πŸŽ’ Thule TCBP 417 Crossover Backpack Black: Superior Quality and Style Combined by Joel Miranda

Revainrating 4 out of 5

[Update 1 year] It's grown inside me a bit.

OLD REVIEW: Excellent quality packaging. The organization is good, there is no doubt about the quality. However, as others have pointed out, it's not 32 litres. My 27L Ogio Renegade RSS fits 30% more than this one and is still more organized. If you plan to take full advantage of this backpack, you may be disappointed. Because of this, I won't return it for anything anymore. NEW 1 year in review: I didn't actually return it and I've grown to love it. Actually a very nice package. The textured nylon pin has a fresh but understated look, while blue zips add a contrast. The sleek, straight profile has a minimalist curve, creating a youthful, professional appeal. This backpack has survived a year of constant daily use, survived commuting from work to school and other things (band events, movie sets) and survived being dunked in a creek and mostly a mile downriver to its destination to have swam. And there was a small incident with a small waterfall. but this is another story. It's safe to say that I've used it enough to get close to average, if not above, average workloads in many conditions. For me it was a solid backpack and personally I had no issues with the build quality. Its design can definitely be improved (and it looks like it was done in the new Crossover 2), especially with a front accessory pocket and space for laptop/tablet. When the main pocket is full, the contents will push against the accessory pocket, making access difficult. Also, the laptop sleeve is slightly warped due to the weight of the contents in the tablet sleeve pulling it down (because the tablet sleeve is attached to the laptop sleeve). It's a bit unsightly and maybe unacceptable for a $100+ backpack, but for now it's not a problem. The bag is MUCH easier to get in and out of. Because there is some uneven pressure on it from other objects.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
