Just the right crossover for performance and form factor

I used to have a Beelink Celeron mini computer (which I ended up giving away to a family in need) and while it does really well for everyday tasks and media consumption, there's still a lot to be desired when it comes to some specific tasks like that Encoding short video clips or exporting photos. While the Intel i3 and Intel GPU may not be the best for these tasks, it's a trade-off in terms of cost. Since these tasks are rarely performed, this Beelink U55 is a good option for such use cases. The package was a little larger than I expected. That's twice as much as the Celeron version. From the looks of it, the U55 is twice the size of the Celeron version to include a fan, which makes sense given that the i3 processor is more powerful than the Celeron. The box contains a mini PC, power supply, 1 long and 1 short HDMI cable, VESA mount adapter and user manual. I bought the 8GB/128GB variant. The PC itself makes a very solid impression. The case is very well ventilated to blow off the heat. It is very light and can easily be carried around in a small bag. Setup is very quick and easy. It comes pre-installed with Windows 10 Home (worth over $100 free). The network connection via Wi-Fi is very stable. I downloaded LibreOffice (a free office suite) and this thing is ready for daily work in just 15 minutes. But of course it still took about 15 minutes to download the latest Windows updates. Although Windows 10 Home is already good with a free office suite, I needed a more reliable operating system, so I decided to install Linux Mint. Setting the boot sequence in the BIOS is easy and I was able to run the Linux Mint install from a USB flash drive. You can also select a boot device by pressing F7. The system is fast and the Linux installation took only a few minutes. All hardware was detected during Linux installation. My PC peripherals and accessories are properly connected (headphones, speakers, keyboard, mouse, printer, external drives). I was so impressed how I managed to get it working in a very short amount of time. This is my first Intel i3 processor and I was a little skeptical as most of my PCs are either 6 or 8 cores with high CPU speeds, but this dual core/4 thread processor isn't bad at all, although I have it would not recommend it for computer games in general. For overall performance, that's great. Overall this is a great and fast PC for the price and form factor. I bought mine for about $290. Please watch the video for my setup. If you are looking for a mini PC for everyday work, this PC is a great option.
