I'm a petite 5'2" person. Most standard adult-sized hangers (including nearly all velvet hangers) are too wide for my clothes and cause shoulder bumps. I found some half-round-curved velvet hangers at a local Tuesday Morning once that were PERFECT for my clothes. I failed to get enough of them and haven't been able to find them again. These have close to the same curved shape, except they're super thin and don't seem as sturdy. The other ones I have are thicker, with a 1/4 to 1/2-inch width across that make them great for cardigans. I'd be hesitant to hang sweaters on these for fear of leaving a bump/impression because they are so thin. It's not so much a matter of whether they'd hold up to the weight (they do feel a bit flimsy). It's that they're so thin, any knit item with weight would sag on the thin hanger and potentially stretch out. Still, for the majority of my clothes, the curved shape works to avoid shoulder bumps.
