To be honest I have very small wrists like there is no fat. However, it was apparently meant for someone with no arm bones to get a little bit of those things. It stops blood flow rather than assisting it and helps stop excessive movement or is helpful in compressing inflamed areas. I could barely wear it for five minutes before my entire wrist and arm started to hurt, moments later the throbbing started and I realized my arm wasn't getting proper blood flow. Too tight to be useful but if you manage to get the right size it might work.
