My previous device (different brand) made loud white noise, so we decided it was time to buy a new one. Received and installed the monitors (2 were included) fairly quickly - they were already set up so it was pretty much plug and play. It took a little reading to understand the VOX feature, which allows you to turn off the screen and "wake up" to sound. There's a slight lag, but not much, effectively. I've noticed that one monitor makes white noise MUCH louder than the other, so much so it's hard to sleep with it because the two cameras automatically switch between my kids' rooms. One is silent and the second camera turns on and emits loud white noise the entire time it is locked onto that camera. The good thing is that there is no sound when the screen on the monitor goes dark - this is only the case if you have the monitor station screen turned on. Good product for its price. It's mid-range - all the usual features and so far the battery life is good, but it just feels a little less durable than the last device I had - not necessarily a negative.
