I thought it would be worth trying a shoe without spikes and after buying adidas golf shoes and reading the reviews I decided on them. I've worn them 4 rounds (trolley) and they've been great. The footrest is very comfortable yet supportive. There were no hot spots or scratches. I didn't play in the rain, but I played two laps on a wet track, one was just on the kart track, and my feet were completely dry. I don't have a fast swing, but I swing hard enough that golf shoes are a must. I've noticed that I move/shift a bit in these shoes compared to the spikes. It's worth the compromise as I've found that my knees and legs generally don't feel any pain or tightness after the round. I always know what I'm playing when I'm wearing my spikes. Turns out these are shoes I didn't know I needed.
