Review on ๐Ÿ’จ Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 White ARGB CPU Air Cooler: Powerful Heat Dissipation, Dual 120mm PWM Fans, Stunning ARGB Lighting and Universal Compatibility by Bill Tripi

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Noisy fans but powerful dual tower heatsink

Compared to Scythe Mugen (one fan, also 6 heatpipes) my temperature dropped 3 degrees at 8700K with a 165W workload. Because of the two fans as expected, it performs slightly better at higher speeds. However, thermal fans are MUCH louder at >1300 RPM and they seem to move the same amount of air at 1500 RPM as the Scythe Kaze Flex does at 1200 RPM. I didn't measure the SPL of the fans, but I wouldn't be surprised if they went over 30dBA. I don't know if the noise rating given is correct. With standard 9900K cooling, both the Assassin and Mugen 5 top out at 81C at 175W in continuous use, so the Mugen 5 performs just as well at a much lower noise level. A final feature is that no screwdriver is included. You will need a fairly thin and long Phillips screwdriver to install the cooler as intended. Installation is very easy and painless with the right screwdriver. For the money this is a good dual tower cooler. If you can tolerate louder fans/set a conservative fan profile then this could be a decent alternative to towers like Mugen 5, Dark Rock 4 or maybe even Fuma 2.
