These filters are very useful for removing scale throughout the home. Buying them in bulk will bring the overall price down significantly since it forces you to change the filter more often, which is a good thing. Holding the filter for too long reduces the flow of water in your faucets, but the decrease in flow gradually diminishes over time, and you don't realize that the pressure is nowhere near as good as it could be. trust me i know. I now have great water pressure and will be changing filters more often because I saved money and bought in bulk. One thing to note, I use a food grade gasket on the top and bottom of the filters when I change them which ensures the water flows through the filter and not some of the water and sediment bypasses the filter, as there is no tight seal. Since I started using this many years ago, almost no sediment has passed through the filter and the good thing is that after washing the pads can be reused when changing the filter.
