I'd like to start this review by saying I haven't used a drip coffee maker in years. They call me "coffee snob". I grew up drinking the traditional Mr. Coffee-style drip drink that my parents were happy with, and not happy with the plastic taste and lack of aroma that came with each cup, even though they always bought "really good" models. I can't stand drinking coffee from restaurants or even regular coffee shops as they still lack the aroma and flavor that I expect from my coffee. I'm also unimpressed with Keurig coffee and other single-shot brewing systems. For years, because of these flavors, I've brewed pourover coffee first and then progressed to the French press method as the best, richest, richest coffee I've ever tasted, and I only use certain brands/types of coffee. It's one of the few things I spend money on. Then I bought a house with a septic tank and no shaft. And my coffee grounds became a big problem for my husband for fear of clogging the system - which is fair - not to mention we now have room for guests and it has become inconvenient for them to go to Dunkin Donuts running to get a box of coffee as people don't want to wait 15 minutes to slowly brew their coffee. All in all, I decided to finally bite the bullet and get a fully automatic coffee machine. I did a lot of research on SCAA approved coffee makers because I didn't want to compromise my taste. After reading that the heart-attack-inducing expensive technivorm requires "agitating the grind" to evenly distribute the water (I mean, who wants to simmer coffee when you've got a machine? To me, that wins outright), I turned mine attention to the significantly cheaper Bonavita coffee machine and ended up in second place. I saved up and bought one only to find it felt flimsy and the decanter leaked in buckets and kept the liquid in the top cap no matter what I did. Let's go back to the drawing board. I looked at all other SCAA certified coffee makers and kept coming back to this Cuisinart PurePrecision Pour Over coffee maker. It looked very new, was reasonably priced and the main reviewer notes that he compared it to other certified coffee makers and gave it preference, which gave me some confidence. I was a little worried as there weren't many reviews or reviews online as this model is relatively new, but I decided to give it a try. The design is very chic. It looks great in our kitchen - my husband, who doesn't drink coffee, has even noticed that it has become the highlight of our counter. (Photo attached; glass is fogged up from having just been washed with hot water.) The coffeemaker looks and feels solid, with an impressive display and simple controls that make programming easy. You set the automatic on time, and you can also set the automatic off time for the heating pad under the glass jug. I found it interesting that the device is equipped with a carbon filter that is supposed to improve the taste of the water when the owner does not use the water filter himself. Since I use ZeroWater filter pitchers, I probably won't change the filter when the time comes as I find it unnecessary. Since other reviewers have noted that the steel carafe and Bonavita I tried have leaking issues, I went with the glass carafe. . I don't care about keeping warm because I immediately pour coffee into my Zojirushi thermos and go to work in the morning, which keeps the coffee hot. It is important to me whether the carafe runs out when pouring. But this one isn't. If you're concerned about heat retention, it's probably a good idea to increase the time before auto-shutdown. I can say that the coffee brewed on this machine is as hot as boiling water in a French press and I was quite happy with the temperature. 2 spoons of coffee per cup. While this is below the recommended amount of flavor for a machine (Cuisinart recommends brewing at least 6 cups for best flavor), I still enjoy my coffee immensely. It is strong and full-bodied, rich. I'm used to coarse coffee and have no problem with it. One thing I would like to say is that with this coffee maker there is an almost imperceptible bitterness in the taste of the coffee that isn't there, smoother when brewed with a French press, but that's such a minor difference that it can be overlooked in favor of the time savings and ease of cleaning of this car. In conclusion, I can only recommend this coffee machine. It produces the best coffee I've ever tasted from an automatic/drip machine and I'm happy with my purchase. I give this product 5 stars and in my opinion it deserves the SCAA certification. If anything changes or my level of satisfaction changes I will update this review. :: UPDATE MARCH 2018 :: This coffee maker still works like new. I'm still very impressed with him and still love him. I've had no issues with water mist or the display darkening, and I clean it regularly by rinsing with vinegar or water until the water runs clear. I use it every day and do not regret the purchase. And since someone on this site seems to be trying to challenge this review and the other main reviewer, I can confirm that I did not receive a discount on this product, I was not paid for this review, I was not asked by the company to post a review and I have not received any retrospective discounts or privileges for this review. I'm just a coffee lover.
