Due to its length, there are seams which can reduce its strength over time. If you buy this expecting it to smell like quality leather you will be disappointed. I don't know if it's the tanning method or poor storage, but this stuff stinks so much like military leftovers that I had to take it out of the house and put it in the barn, hoping the smell will dissipate before I use it have. But I will use it for its thickness and pliability. Just not until the smell is gone. I do not know the origin of this product.
