Other reviewers didn't seem to have this problem but I had a little trouble setting it up, only got it today and the manual is a bit difficult to understand. I took it apart to soak the cotton filter as instructed and when I put it back together no mist came out. After looking for a video or review on how to change the filter, I fiddled with it and finally got it working.1. Gently grasp the filter housing near where the filter attaches to the base and twist counterclockwise. Remove the filter from the housing.2. After removing the filter from the sleeve/housing and soaking, take the thinner end of the filter, not the end with the slotted plastic sleeve, and carefully reinsert it into the slot in the lid.3. Place a metal spiral over the filter.4. Place the plastic housing/sleeve onto the filter and gently push and twist to lock back into the base. The filter must not protrude beyond the water tank. When I first set it up, the filter was sticking out and popping up and down from the cap, which isn't right. It should not move back and forth but be motionless. I know this might sound like a no-brainer to most people, but I guess I wasn't paying attention when I took it apart. Now that it's set up correctly, it immediately started blowing heavily. I don't know if it matters, but I boiled and chilled my homemade filtered water before putting it in the humidifier in hopes of making the water a little more sterile? I hope this helps anyone who had trouble setting it up. So far I like how it works and hope to have a lot of it, especially in the car. I have eczema and very dry skin and I hope this will help my face not get so dry in the car that I spend hours at work every day.
