I have been using these lamps for many years. I love her! About a year ago I came across a new use for them - to return bits of fiber. Let's be honest; Fiber optic lamps are weak at best. Not only are they cheaply made, but they get very hot. These lamps gave me my fiber optics back. What I did was strip the guts from all my fiber optic parts, put a new standard size in each and a patch cord in the original base, screw in one of those lightbulbs and WOW! Not only do I get the same color/motion effect, the lamp feels cool. It is no longer necessary to start parts momentarily to avoid starting a fire. In addition, these lamps give the fiber MUCH brighter colors than the original works. I liked my fiber optic parts/lamps, but they only worked for a relatively short time. Not only do they work again with these lamps (and are much, much safer), but the fiberglass filaments are much brighter and much more beautiful than before.
