Review on WAVLINK N300 WiFi Router Directional by Jose Muenzen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This Wi-Fi modem has great range and coverage but isn't very fast and doesn't have many options

It seems to work well and has great range. It was easy to set up. It has really good Wi-Fi radio for the price, but you won't find many sophisticated networking features. This is 2.4G WiFi only and does not support the newer, faster but typically shorter 5G WiFi. Despite the list, it doesn't only support 802.11 "b". It supports 'b', 'g' and 'n' with choices or run them all in mixed mode. 'n' gives you a supposed speed potential of 300MB, but that won't do you much good with only 100MB ethernet ports. Your configuration options are rather limited. You get decent Wi-Fi radio options, but the network page doesn't have many options. This is a Wi-Fi modem, not a fully functional router. It has no logging, firewall, NAT, or filtering options. You can set up your WAN fine with DHCP/static/PPPoE, but your LAN network configuration consists only of a gateway IP address and a netmask. You get the default consumer Wi-Fi security option, WPA2-PSK-CCMP, with the option to enable support for the less secure WPA with a slight improvement in PSK security. You also get the WPS feature and the ability to hide your SSID. Overall I'm happy with it. It's a bargain price, with long range and Wi-Fi coverage. It is not designed for higher top speeds, enhanced security, and is not a full-featured router/network device. include the specific model number somewhere. With the prospect that one day a firmware update might be required and I couldn't find what I was sure about about this unit on the Wavlink website, I went ahead and unscrewed it by removing the cover and finding that it was clearly marked as WN530K2- on the inside.
