I like that you can create your own website, edit it yourself if necessary (it's easy), add content as needed from other sources. You don't have to use their services; they are simply an option for those who want more control over how things look/function than is available in some of the free options out there. There aren't really any downsides - just keep in mind what type of experience level or technical knowledge you possess when deciding whether this service will work best for you! The ability to host my websites myself was something new and exciting to me after having hosted previously at another provider where everything had been handled by someone else.
