Review on Extension Reinforced Anti Tear Waterproof Splitter Tools & Equipment by Andrew Arneson

Not suitable for charging a car battery (comment, not criticism)

The cable looks well made and is as flexible as one would expect given the robust outer jacket. I was hoping to use it to connect a charger to a car battery during a long period of inactivity, but received conflicting responses to my inquiry as to the size of the cable used. So I borrowed an accurate milliohmmeter and measured the contact resistance of each wire. The result is 205 mΩ (0.205 ohms), which corresponds to a 26 AWG cable with a length of 150 cm. This is fine for your typical OBD2 monitor, but too flimsy for the 3 amps of current produced by my charger, so I'll have to buy the plugs as home-built items and your own extension of at least 18 AWG wire for to build pins 4 and 16.

Pros
  • Tools and accessories
Cons
  • High price
