Saved my ass twice

I've been trying to track down a smelly leak in a commercial assortment for two years. Numerous soap spray bottles gave nothing away. The kitchen was left untidy and smelled of propane/H2S. I bought this tester out of desperation. It takes me a while to calibrate and it's very slow to respond so just waving the wand doesn't provide any useful information. You have to be very patient and recalibrate often, so it took me quite a while to figure out the best way to use it. He found THREE independent leaks, none of which were from the furnace to the feed (the most likely leak). Replaced parts and success. When I visited a neighbor, her house reeked of propane gas. During the winter Saray had a huge infestation of mice and he thought it was the smell of mouse urine. The whole house squeaked alarmingly at the gas level. Searching for half an hour, airing the house, turning off appliances, etc., and I found a huge leak that was so fast it didn't bubble, just hissed. I sprayed the leak with soapy water but only found the leak with this sniffer. After tightening, blisters slowly appeared, indicating the need for replacement. I've only ever used soapy water for 40 years. It absolutely proved to me how important a good sniffer is (alongside a soap dish, a good nose and ears, etc.). Just be patient with your alarm clocks; If you move too quickly, there will be many false positives and missed leaks.
