I bought this to use with GMRS (462.6xx MHz). Cutting the bars by about half an inch resulted in an SWR of less than 1.2:1. This is the best antenna I have ever tested for direct suburban unit communications at or below roof level. This is because most communication signals use signals that are reflected off buildings or other objects. Higher gain antennas, while excellent for repeater or open space operations, have problems detecting multipath in urban UHF environments. In addition, it is a durable antenna that is easy to install.
