Disappointed with the suction

Bought this mainly for the longer syringe/buster tube. I was hoping to use this to vacuum up dirt from the bottom of my aquarium. The suction bulb is not big enough to suck anything. Also, when you pull it out of the tank, the water flows out and whatever I sucked up goes back into the water. The shorter one sucks more, but you have to put your hand in the tank to get to the junk. My tank is higher. Then the same thing happens when you take it out of the water, all the trash flies out with the water. If the hole in the tubes were a smaller diameter, I think it would work better with a much larger bulb to suck more. Unfortunately, most of them are garbage.
