Review on πŸ”Š Black Bose Bass Module 500 - Enhance Your Audio Experience! by Kevin Singh

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Frustrated and frustrated, big time.

I bought these after purchasing a Bose soundbar, a smaller soundbar alternative to the 500/700. I'm very happy with the soundbar but thought the bass module might be a nice addition. So I checked and the Revain description says the 500 is compatible with the soundbar I already bought. But when 500 arrived I tried to connect according to the instructions and method 1 didn't work because the app doesn't include a soundbar or module! OK. So, I'm pretty frustrated, but I tried method 2. The instructions are completely misleading but I figured out what it means to connect an extra 3.55mm cable from the 500 to the soundbar. I had a short one handy and tried it out and it activated 500 on high volume (it's night time now so I could only do a quick test or run into angry neighbors). But it works, at least I don't have to send it back. I've ordered a 12ft auxiliary cable to try again with a longer test (during civilized hours). For now I can confirm that I get low frequencies at high volumes; at a lower volume I get nothing. So I can't say I'm impressed. I will update this review if future use requires a 12ft cable. But here's the key point; Bose customer service is terrible. If you dial 800, you get access to something called Just Answer, where you have to sign up, pay $1, and wait for someone to help you. I gave up and figured it out myself after waiting 30 minutes. When I then checked my text messages, it turned out that the Just Answer guy, Nathan, had texted me offering to help me on the phone earlier - if I agreed to pay $26! For those of you who, like me, think of Bose as a high quality audio store, be warned: they aren't what they used to be!
