Cat doors tend to stay open or fly out. The magnet on the bottom keeps it securely in place. At first it stayed open, but that was an easy fix. I pulled the transparent door out of the already installed frame. I oiled the part where it pivots and pressed hard on the fuzzy stripe around the edge to break it up a bit. The fluffy strip is for insulation, but the hairs are very stiff at first. I rubbed my thumbs back and forth over the top two inches on each side of this fluffy strip until it was softer and more pliable. I never saw the cat door left open again. However, despite the magnet, it is easy for cats to open. Even our smallest kitty can easily open it, but it withstands high winds and stays closed despite the harsh weather we sometimes experience. All in all a perfect cat flap.
