To convert, it has to be unscrewed, rearranged and screwed back on. It really sucks because plywood is brittle and I'm pretty sure it will crack over time if a nut tries to rearrange and twist it herself. The bottom has 2 ledges that hold the box, which is annoying with heavy stuff. For example I have magnets in one and paper and markers in another. Both are too heavy to shove straight into the closet because after the first edge piece, they fall flat. Mine broke after 2 days and by then I had thrown the box away and returned the instructions. I contacted the company for a replacement part after asking a few questions about which part I needed to replace and after a week of back and forth they finally said they couldn't replace the part and could send it back. Got a 10. For 30 this product isn't that bad it's cute just wish it was sturdier had a solid bottom under the boxes and stronger boxes. I don't think it will last long as the armrest connecting the table to the chair had a crack that broke completely within 2 days.
