Review on Oster 5712 Electronic 6 1 Quart Steamer by Joe Duncan

Great for vegetarians

Received my package just in time for dinner yesterday. I'm a widower so I cook. I unpacked the goods (3 minutes - perfectly packed). I washed the plastic parts in hot soapy water, rinsed the parts, filled the base up to the line with water and plugged it in (5 mins). I've scrubbed a large red potato and removed the eyes, peeled some carrots, washed some broccoli, trimmed and washed some mushrooms, washed and halved a large ripe tomato, trimmed the tops off a white onion and took off the first layer. (6 minutes). I tossed the potatoes, carrots, and onions in a large basket and set the timer for 25 minutes. I saw the messages before the first commercial after the call. (It's a good idea not to take the top off right away, lest you burn yourself from the steam.) I added broccoli, mushrooms, and tomatoes, set the timer for 15 minutes, and went back to catch the news. After the call, I watched the last few minutes of the news and then microwaved Italian tofurki broth, placed steamed veggies and broth on plates, added some Halopeno mustard for the broth, and some chipotle mayonnaise for the veggies and seasoned my potatoes. I said my blessings and ate great food. Being a vegetarian, I have almost no experience in preparing meat or fish. I find that having the right cooking tool makes cooking a lot easier for myself or guests. I have an induction cooktop, Nuwave oven, regular oven, toaster, multi-cookers of various sizes, full-size grill, microwave, custom rice steamer, 4-burner electric stovetop, and assorted cast-iron and ceramic pots and pans. The Easter steamer is essential for me in my kitchen and I now have one in both apartments. I love these vapers and have bought several of them.
