Ideal for tired, arthritic hands.

I was using a corded Dremel and wasn't sure if it would have torque and ease of use. Yes and no. You can choose the speed, but unlike a foot-operated tool, you can't adjust it on the fly without having to stop and physically move the switch. It is heavier and thicker in hand, which affects the fine workmanship. Other than that, it's the best thing that comes after sliced bread. Without a cord, you can work in a deep cast-iron sink to collect dust and dirt. You can tip the tool into tight positions without the cable dictating where your point of contact is. It can be laid down and the cable won't rip it off the desk. Its speed is the same as the network tool. In normal use there is no noticeable difference in torque. With a little practice you will achieve precise control. I bought a model with an extra battery. Do that. It's true that the power suddenly disappears and it seems to go fast because Dremel makes time fly by with its ease of use. I also bought an extra "bit" kit. It's worth it too. You get a smorgasbord of apps to try before you have to buy a multipack. I am an elderly woman with arthritic hands. Where I used to use a hacksaw or hand file, the Dremel Lickity split does the job. As one reviewer said, it's not about the force you use, it's about the effectiveness of the tool. So true. My hand doesn't hurt, and I haven't huffed and puffed cutting a base metal rod in half. Plus time savings! It is also true that the hard plastic case does not have additional accessories such as a flexible shaft. I'm thinking of using a dremel plastic knife, just cut out the shaped inside of the shell and glue a 1" thick sheet of styrofoam to the lid. But putting the accessories in a different box is more organized for me. If you're new to the Whether you are using a Dremel or not careful please note that normal use will produce quite a bit of almost invisible fine aerosol Safety goggles are a must and if you have a light face shield I would recommend it A small plastic screen does come with it but it is amazing how far the "dust" flew. All in all, it's fun, fun, fun. It's like Christmas in your hands. PS. If you want to purchase a protection plan, the day after you receive it, it's too late.
