Love the built-in DVD player, but the projector needs more fine-tuning adjustments.

The Big Asou DVD projector with Wi-Fi is a great idea having the DVD player built into the projector. Would’ve been nice if it was Blu-ray, but still have plenty of standard definition dvds to play on it.The projector itself is nice and compact and comes with a sturdy little tripod to make it easy to adjust the angle of the projector on a table. Brightness wise, you’re not gonna be using this during the daylight time or in any sort of direct light. Definitely needs to be after the sun is gone down or night time to be able to see it clearly. The projector does have built-in speakers which you can use in a pinch, but you definitely want to connect it to some other speakers to run the audio through. It’s nice that it includes Bluetooth, so you can connect Bluetooth speakers to it quite easily an issue is though that there audio when playing via Bluetooth lags behind the video). The app functionality works fine as well as being able to play movies off of a USB drive, if you don’t wanna use the DVD player. However, a big issue with the projector is how loud the fan is. It is quite annoying and and turns on right away, regardless of how long we’ve had the projector on for. Also when angling the projector up at a wall or screen, which is what most of us are going to be doing, the keystone setting on the back, which adjust the picture on the wall to make it look square, only goes 15° one way or the other, which is not anywhere near enough to get the picture square on the wall. This project really needs to be close to level and projecting straight ahead for the image to look correct. Also, with focusing, if the project is setup and angled more than a few degrees up or down, you’ll have either the top edge or the bottom edge of the screen noticeably out of focus.I really wanted to like this projector, but given the issues with focusing and squaring up the image on the wall plus the loud fan noise, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Pros
  • You can use this projector indoors or outdoors, making it a versatile addition to your entertainment setup
Cons
  • Some users have reported issues with the projector overheating during extended use, potentially causing damage to the device
