Protects quite well against scratches, despite being plastic it has a nice "carbon fibre" look. My only complaint would be that every time I drop my keys or just throw them on the counter (I think most do. There's nothing more satisfying than tossing the keys on the counter after a long day at work. ) the lid literally falls apart and you have to reassemble it. Otherwise I recommend the product.
