It took a few minutes to figure out how to assemble it. The bottom is deep and feels sturdy but the wire part seems a bit cheap as I put it together. I haven't put the wire part on the bottom as of yet and am hoping the bottom will stabilize the top part. I am using twist ties to keep the openings closed. The main purpose of this cage was so that I could take my gerbils with me for car trips. I feel comfortable using it for that purpose but I will use a suitcase strap to secure it together when traveling.Update. Originally I gave it 4 stars but now that I have put it together, I'm giving it a 2 stars. I have assembled it and the clips were extremely challenging to attach. I have to be honest, I wouldn't keep critters that like to chew in here. I'm not even sure I feel comfortable using it for my gerbils as a travel cage. The size and weight are fine but the accessories are plastic and require metal screws which are not good for gerbils. Also there are gaps at the "doors" where their little paws could get caught. I won't return it since I assembled it and they chewed it, but I will love for another one. I thought this was modestly priced but I think I'd rather pay more for a better quality cage even if it is just for traveling.
