This product was installed on a 2004 Jeep Liberty and routes the electrical connector into the correct location on the hitch. The job took just over an hour, but I made a few mistakes along the way. I couldn't immediately find connections behind the right panel and started making connections in the left panel, only to later figure out where to make the connection in the right panel. My recommendation is to first look under the jeep above the exhaust pipe and find a hole to run the cable through. You have to remove the inner right panel by following the instructions until you find a hole inside. It takes a little tugging on the plate to push it out far enough to find the hole. When you get to the hole you can see above the wheel arch where the connection needs to be made. Route the cable to the hitch by drilling a slit in the cutout and use some zip ties to secure the cable to the hitch. So it's technically possible to make the connection from either side of the car, but the right side you want to make the connection (according to the manual) so you have enough cable length to get to the towbar. It takes a bit of tugging, but the project is pretty easy.
